We will have a sneak look at the numerous winter activities one involve while staying in Lake Tahoe. Though, skiing is the number one winter sport in Lake Tahoe, there are other less advertised but not in anyway less enjoyable winter activities available here.Alpine skiing involves downhill skiing. There are at least 14 spots in Lake Tahoe for this sport. Nordic skiing involves cross-country skiing, snowboarding snowshoeing etc. this is available at at least 7 locations.
The other activities are sleigh rides, tubing, dog sledding, ice skating etc. weather conditions are however mercurial in Lake Tahoe. Dog sledding involve rides lasting for about an hour along the pristine background of Sierra Nevada Mountains and Tahoe forest mountains.
Ice skating is fabulous at Olympic Ice Pavilion. This ice rink is located at high camp of Incline village. It is open from 10:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. everyday. Other spots for ice skating are the resort at Squaw Creek Experience, South Lake Tahoe Ice Arena and Village Ice Rink at Kirkwood. You could also take a guided snowmobile tours around the lake or through the Tahoe forests. Or try out sledding, tubing and saucers on Mount Rose.
