Tips, trivia and other facts of Lake Tahoe
01.06.05 (3:52 pm)   [edit]

Sixty three streams and two hot springs contribute water to Lake Tahoe. Lake Tahoe hotels are mostly located along the southern shores, which is in California.
More info can be available on Useful resource: Lake Tahoe

This lake has a shoreline of 71 miles. 49 miles of it is in the state of California and the remaining 22 is in Nevada State. Lying at an altitude of 6,000 feet above sea level, Lake Tahoe never gets frozen. Approximately, a tenth of an inch of water from this lake evaporates each day. The only source of outlet for this lake is the Truckee River.

The water in the tenth deepest lake in the world has a temperature of 40 to 50ºF during spring and it shoots to 65 to 70ºF from August to September. The temperature of water here remains at a constant of 39ºF, after a depth of more than 700 ft. The water is cold here and it prevents gases from forming. Normally, Tahoe’s climate is very dry and the humidity levels are low.
The boundaries of South Shore of Lake Tahoe extend from Emerald Bay to Rubicon Point which includes part of the Western Slope and Alpine County. While the north shore extends from Kings Beach to Incline Village.
